Free Screen Recorder for Windows — No Watermark, No Account

SwiftRec is a lightweight, free screen recorder built for Windows 10 and 11. Hit a hotkey, capture your screen with audio and webcam, save as MP4 or GIF — all offline, all local, nothing bloated.

Why Choose SwiftRec Over Built-In Tools

Windows comes with Xbox Game Bar, but it skips File Explorer, won't lock to a specific region, and forces you through menus every time. SwiftRec cuts to the chase: one hotkey, one clean MP4, done. No sign-in, no watermark, no cloud sync waiting to happen.

The app sits in a small window on your desktop. Pick what you want to record—full screen, just one window, a drawn rectangle, or a specific monitor—then press record. Both your microphone and system audio go into the same file. If you need a webcam bubble for tutorials or reaction clips, toggle it on. If you want to show every mouse click and keystroke for a how-to video, there's a toggle for that too.

Everything saves locally to your Videos folder. SwiftRec never touches the internet, never stores anything in the cloud, never asks for an account.

Common Recording Scenarios

**Game footage**: Record at full screen or windowed mode with system audio on. SwiftRec repeats standard keyboard and mouse input and does not inject anything into the game, so double-check your game's recording rules first. Mouse and keystroke overlays are optional if you're doing a playthrough.

**Tutorial or how-to**: Pick the window you're demonstrating (File Explorer, Photoshop, browser), turn the mic on, toggle keystroke and click indicators to help viewers follow along. Your voice and the app sounds all go into the same track.

**Quick bug report or feedback**: Use Region mode to draw around the specific broken part of the screen, record 10 seconds of it, save as MP4 or GIF, and drop it in Slack or a ticket. GIF is better for chat threads because most platforms play it inline.

**Webcam + screen**: Open SwiftRec, record your screen normally, and toggle on the webcam bubble. It floats above your capture so viewers see your face alongside what's on your monitor—perfect for reactions or face-cam gaming.

Quick Start: Record Your First Clip

  1. Download and install Grab the ZIP from swiftrecpc.com, download it, and run the Windows setup. Open the folder — Windows may ask for permission once.
  2. Pick your source Open SwiftRec. On the toolbar, choose Full Screen, Window, Region, or a specific monitor. Region mode lets you drag a rectangle around exactly what you want.
  3. Set your audio Toggle the mic icon if you want to narrate. Toggle the speaker icon if you want the game sound, music, or whatever else is playing in the background. Both can be on at once.
  4. Press record and stop Hit the red button (or use your hotkey) to start. Press the square button (or hotkey again) to stop. Your finished MP4 lands in Videos\SwiftRec.

Portability and Privacy

SwiftRec installs on your Windows system using a standard installer. Find it through your normal apps or shortcuts. Remove it anytime through standard Windows settings.

It runs on .NET Framework 4.7.2, which is already built into Windows 10 and 11, so there's no extra runtime to install. The whole download is tiny because there's no bundled bloat—no codec packs, no ad libraries, no telemetry.

All recordings stay on your computer. SwiftRec has no internet connection, no cloud account, no tracking. Open the recorded file straight in your video editor or upload it wherever you want.

Questions About SwiftRec

Is it truly free?

Yes. No paid tier, no trial period, no watermark on your videos, no feature paywall. Download once and use it forever.

Do I need to create an account?

No. No sign-up, no login, no email. Launch the app and start recording immediately.

Will it work on my Windows PC?

SwiftRec runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). It also works on earlier Windows releases if you have .NET Framework 4.7.2 installed. Windows may ask for permission once during installation.

Can I record multiple audio tracks separately?

No. Microphone and system audio are muxed into a single stereo track in the output file. Both sources play together in the final MP4.

What if Windows SmartScreen blocks it?

Click More info, then Run anyway. SwiftRec is open-source and built on the well-known Captura engine; the warning appears because the build is new.
